What's New? July 2008
Everyone who knows me knows summer is not my favorite time of year. I’m still trying to work 40 hours at home, but the kids are here. That’s a challenge! But the bare essentials are getting done.
I’m working on two books for Picture Window. I wrote six ecosystem books a while back, and now I’m adding Coral Reefs and Tundra. They’re going fairly well, and I’ll be relieved to turn them in before I go out of town in mid-July.
I got to see F&Gs (folded and gathereds) for STAMPEDE! My first set ever. Well, not really, but my first set for a trade book. Yea! I love Steve Salerno’s art! I’m still waiting to hear from Clarion regarding my new poems for BOOKSPEAK and also my revision of a third collection. I’m anxious about my editor’s opinions on both.
And Lisa Bullard and I completed our Matchmaking Your Manuscript class. It was a success, and we want to offer it again.
Last, when I get back in town, I’ll begin my online class of Writing Children’s Nonfiction Books for the Education Market. And I’ll be teaching an in-person one-day workshop at the Loft on July 29.
It’s hard to believe 2008 is halfway over. I hope you’re meeting all of your writing goals you’ve set for this year!
