What's New? July 2007
The summer has gotten off to a busy start.
Exciting news! My editor at Clarion has found an illustrator for STAMPEDE, my picture book poetry collection due out in 2009. I can't announce who it is yet, but I'm so pleased with the choice!
In other news: In June, I taught a workshop on Writing Nonfiction Books for the Children's Education Market at the Loft. I had 32 students in an information-packed day, and we all learned a lot (me included). The turnout was so great that the Loft has asked me to teach it again on December 8.
In August, I'll be attending the SCBWI Los Angeles conference. I can't wait for Lee Bennett Hopkins' poetry class!
I am almost done (fingers crossed, knocking wood) with my final poetry collection for the six-book set I'm doing for Capstone Press. I also have four nonfiction books for other publishers due between the end of July and the end of September.
I'll be doing additional teaching this summer, including a one-day workshop at the Loft for adults who want to write poetry for kids.
Happy writing and summering!
