STAMPEDE! How the Book Began

When my younger daughter was in 3rd grade, she had two teeth pulled. I took her out for a milkshake, and she put two straws in the gaps. She looked like a walrus, and I wrote a poem about it.

A few months later, Maddie's class and I wrote poems comparing ourselves to animals. I loved them! Soon, tons of animal-kid poems were thundering through my brain, and five years later, I had a book. And that's how Stampede! began.
