You guys, I’ve been heartsick this week over the stories of a horrific crime in our region. A crime against a 10-year-old girl. And it’s reminding me again of my need to escape into books, stories, and poems. Reading them, writing them, celebrating them. I’m so grateful for everyone who puts beauty into the world. For the small reads that help me find peace and balance, even when I’m going down a rabbit hole of obsessing over something I can’t control. I don’t often write about the things that are troubling me. For me, writing is a way to fight against those things.
Today’s sticky note poem got its start in 2 places. First, I loved Patricia Franz’s idea of learning secrets by listening. And then I took the topic from one of my poems in In the Middle of the Night. The dreamy art is by Angela Matteson.
