Wake up your poetry brains with 15 Words or Less (guidelines here)!

15WOLs

I have bad wrists, so I use these Perfect Push-Up things during yoga and when I do push-ups. This image makes me think of:

1) my old spirograph (one of my fav toys)
2) being hypnotized
3) big fans we run when it’s too hot outside

And here’s my?first draft.

Watch it swirl

Twirl

Start to sway

  1. I love that you take an object, knowing its function, and go a different direction. Liked this one!

    1. Thanks, Martha. Tonight should really be a game we may watch.
John is the one who is crazy about basketball and he is really wondering where his loyalty lies. Graduated from Madison and has been following Tarheels ever since he moved here in the nineties. Should be interesting.

    2. O.K. I guess you saw a sand dollar in the picture? Interesting where that took you.

        1. I just think it’s interesting how many different things that we all think of when we look at the same picture.

    3. Jessica, I like the sound of tiny toes, grandma’s stories on shifting sand.

  5. When I first looked at this, I just thought “ball — basketball.”
Our son is really into this March Madness and tonight Wisconsin (where we lived for 30 years) and North Carolina (where we live now) will be playing each other.

    March Madness

    Our favorite teams
    Sweet Sixteen
    Now we wait
    Elite Eight
    Which team will we
    Celebrate?

    1. I love this interpretation Kate. Reminds me of the wolf in sheep’s clothing.

  7. Persimmons

    Puddings, jams,
    anti-oxidants,
    all things good for you;
    mama’s irritation if
    tracked in on shoe.

Picture doesn’t look like a persimmon, it just reminds me of one; color, swirly and black leaves when it falls from the tree. We loved the product, but there was no way to keep us from stepping on them and tracking them in the house.

    1. I was trying to place the color- you’ve got it! And, yes, they can make a smeary mess!

    2. you thought of the leaves made me think of this

      following maps
      on backs of leaves
      wind swirls along veins
      of roads
      leaves swirl around wind
      imaginations its seed
      weir will it land us
      rooting tomorrow’s dreams

    1. Amelia, I like the fact that you elaborated on the specific use of the picture posted. I think I’ll have a mid-morning snack!

  9. Flower petals poised,
    ready to unfurl.
    a‑waiting April’s rain
    to make them all uncurl.

I am soooo ready for Spring!

    1. What a unique response to the photo. I can definitely identify with that.

  11. Red Disc

    Frisbee sailing through the air,
    Retriever catches without a care,
And trots off to who knows where?

    1. Perfect!
Of course. It looks just like a Frisbee.
Glad you took time to post.

    2. Of course. A Frisbee. And I bet the retriever was four-legged. Pun intended.
