OK, I know a beach book and poem isn’t exactly seasonal, but…a five-minute imaginary trip to the beach might be just what you long for, now that we’re knee deep into December!
I used to be in a crit group with author Joanne Linden, and I was SO thrilled when Ben & Zip, a charming tale of losing and finding your best friend, found its home.
This poem is longer than most my poetryactions, and I noodled about with it for a fair bit. While writing, I was thinking about all my childhood beach days in Florida. I was also thinking about the word “blanket,” because of Nikki Grimes’ Ditty of the Month Challenge at Michelle H. Barnes’ blog. I ended up doing a different version of the blanket poem there—one that focuses on the actual form of the word “blanket,” though there is some overlap with this poem.
